Every Blackburl bowl is handcrafted as a one-of-one piece in Fernie, British Columbia. Created from carefully selected hardwoods and, in many designs, reclaimed skateboard veneers, each bowl celebrates the natural character of the material while balancing sculptural form with everyday function.
Rather than following a fixed design, every bowl evolves with the grain, figure, and unique qualities of the wood. This striking one-of-a-kind bowl is hand-turned on the lathe from reclaimed skateboard decks, revealing the vibrant layers of maple and dyed veneers that once formed high-performance boards. As the bowl is shaped, the stacked laminations create stunning organic patterns—bold rings, flowing lines, and colourful bands that make every angle visually unique.
The bowl features a distinctive rounded, almost spherical profile with a pronounced rolled rim, giving it a sculptural presence while keeping the form soft and balanced. The thick rim and curved walls highlight the layered skateboard construction, creating dramatic oval and eye-like patterns that naturally emerge from the wood.

Built from individually shaped walnut segments, the bowl is accented with carefully placed reclaimed skateboard veneer that moves across the rim, through the interior, and beneath the form.
