Wood is meant to be used. It develops character through everyday meals, shared gatherings, and years of careful craftsmanship. Like any natural material, it benefits from occasional care.

Blackburl Butter is my own handmade wood conditioner, developed to nourish, protect, and preserve handcrafted wooden pieces without changing their natural character. Every tin is blended by hand using organic Canadian beeswax, Canadian food-grade mineral oil, and a touch of natural citrus, creating a finish that's easy to apply and safe for surfaces that come into contact with food.

The beeswax creates a protective barrier that helps resist moisture while leaving a soft, natural sheen. The mineral oil penetrates deep into the wood fibres to replenish moisture and reduce drying or cracking. A subtle citrus scent completes the blend without overpowering the experience.

Originally created for Blackburl Works serving boards, bowls, and kitchenware, Blackburl Butter is equally at home on butcher blocks, wooden utensils, knife handles, rolling pins, salad bowls, charcuterie boards, and other unfinished or oil-finished wooden surfaces.

Made in small batches in Fernie, British Columbia, every tin reflects the same attention to detail found throughout the Blackburl Works collection.

Application

Using a clean, lint-free cloth, apply a small amount of Blackburl Butter to the wood and work it evenly into the surface. Allow it to absorb for several Minutes, then buff away any excess with a clean cloth. Reapply as needed to keep your wood nourished, protected, and looking its best.
