The Yin is the lighter of two sister pieces, built around the quiet warmth of maple and contrasted with flowing forms of dark walnut. Curving lines of reclaimed skateboard veneer move across the surface, intersecting the hardwood composition and creating a sense of movement without overwhelming the natural character of the wood.
The integrated sculpted handle continues the composition into the form of the board itself. Each finger recess is shaped by hand, turning a functional detail into part of the piece’s identity.
Every curve is individually cut, fitted, and assembled by hand. Variations in grain, colour, and reclaimed veneer ensure that no two pieces can ever be exactly repeated.
Designed as a serving board and functional art object, The Yin can be used for charcuterie, bread, shared dishes, or displayed when not in use.
Handcrafted in Fernie, British Columbia, and finished with a premium food-safe hardwax oil to protect the wood while preserving its natural warmth and texture.
